In this short webinar series, we look at three key metrics for maintenance – Mean Time to Repair (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and First Time Fix Rate (FTFR). This episode of the series focuses on how to minimizing the time to respond and repair.
Industry 4.0 solutions give us many tools to minimize the time to respond and repair. I-IoT solutions help us track the current status of machines and provide visual controls on that status in many locations across the plant to instantly notify people when the machine goes down. These systems also track details of the machine performance and understand the specific causes for downtime. Advanced sensors can feed the IoT solution with information about vibration, noise and temperature data. When machine failures occur, this information can be made instantly available to the maintenance department, engineering support or any other party.
In addition, Augmented Reality solutions can allow the maintenance department to initially respond to the machine downtime by providing remote support to the operator to handle as many failures as possible while eliminating the response time to have a maintenance person attend to the machine personally.
